We are seeking a driven, enthusiastic individual eager to learn and progress within a friendly and approachable team in the Decision Making Support Unit. By joining our dynamic Accountancy Team as a Financial Information Officer, you will help Staffordshire address current challenges in Local Government.
Our Accountancy Division offers a range of services aimed at providing strategic financial advice, safeguarding public funds, supporting effective decision-making, and enabling sound financial management.
This role is based in Stafford with hybrid working options, allowing flexibility to work from home according to service needs.
Main Responsibilities
1. Prepare budget estimates using simple tools (e.g., salary modeller) to support Corporate Finance and Decision Making Support Partners.
2. Assist in maintaining financial system processes, coding hierarchies, and control arrangements for accurate budget records.
3. Process accruals, prepayments, advances, transfers to/from reserves, and provisions within the financial system.
4. Monitor the integrity of budget records to ensure accurate reporting of spending.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Possess good numeric and literacy skills.
2. Be effective in using spreadsheet and word-processing tools, capable of retrieving and manipulating information for report production.
3. Have the drive to study towards or be already qualified in AAT.
4. Be practiced in producing accurate financial information with a good understanding of business processes and controls.
5. Communicate effectively with colleagues across disciplines and work flexibly to meet changing priorities.
