Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of equipment for oil & gas, subsea, renewables, nuclear and industrial applications.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a skilled design team where you will work on projects from concept through to completion, as well as improving and updating existing products.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop new products using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor).
* Update existing products to improve quality and manufacturability.
* Produce drawings, calculations, FEA analysis and supporting documentation.
* Liaise with customers on enquiries and represent the company at visits and trade shows.
* Peer review engineering work to ensure accuracy and compliance with ISO9001.
* Work closely with CNC machining and production teams to ensure designs are fit for manufacture.
* Build and test prototypes in-house.
* Provide technical support to customers and colleagues.
Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or completed Engineering Apprenticeship.
* Strong experience in mechanical design and project management.
* Skilled in 3D CAD modelling and 2D drafting (Inventor/Vault preferred).
* Knowledge of design for manufacture principles.
* Able to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* IT literate, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
* Hydraulics and customer-facing experience desirable.
