Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity at our Oxford Road site and are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with experience in the Histopathology department. The post holder will provide scientific services to patients and clients as an aid to clinical diagnosis.
Working Pattern
Monday‑Friday 7am‑7pm
Qualifications
HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with post‑registration histopathology experience.
Candidates working toward their IBMS registration portfolio will be considered for appointment at a trainee level (Band 5 Annex 21).
Salary – Annex 21 Options
Dependent on holding a professional qualification:
* Up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75% of the top of the band
* More than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70% of the top of the band
* More than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65% of the top of the band
* More than three years from completion of training: 60% of the top of the band
Main Duties
* Routine processing of tissue samples in line with department protocols and ISO 15189 standards.
* Work as part of a team of highly dedicated scientific staff to ensure the quality of all tests performed, using internal and external quality schemes.
* Perform specialist automated and manual tests throughout the department and be involved in auditing processes, reagent control, and equipment maintenance.
* Support day‑to‑day supervision of Medical Laboratory Assistants within the department.
* Rotate through all sections of the department and receive support to become a fully trained and competent member of the team.
Professional Development
Support and encouragement for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, including internal talks, seminars, and approved courses.
