JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Coordinator plays a key role within the Finance Department, providing essential support in the management of the Town’s financial operations. This position involves a combination of financial analysis, asset management, and regular accounting functions to ensure accurate and efficient financial reporting. The Financial Coordinator assists with the preparation of the annual budget, contributes to long-range financial planning for Town projects, and supports the maintenance of accounting records for the Town and its associated entities. This role requires a strong understanding of financial processes and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of related work experience or be actively pursuing a CPA designation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Asset Management including advising on strategy and approach, estimating original and replacement costs for assets without existing data in compliance with PSAB standards, software implementation and training, data transfer from legacy software and recording of all Town asset information in the software.
* Special Project Accounting including research into best practices, financial analysis and projections, procurement, long-term budgeting, capital project tracking and other projects as assigned.
* Assistance with regular accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, infrastructure claims and reports, capital contribution accounting, payroll, bank reconciliation, tax rebate claims and other regular accounting functions as assigned.
* Information Technology including advising on corporate strategy and procurement and maintenance of corporate and departmental hardware, software and network facilities.
* Assistance to the Director including budgeting, preparation of working paper files, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial reports and filling in for the Director in his/her absence.
* Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Director.

* Flexible, able to adapt to change and perform other job duties as required
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
* Minimum two years of relevant financial or accounting
* Working towards a CPA designation
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal finance
* Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word and Outlook
* High attention to detail and analytical skills
