Eating Disorders Senior Clinician

The Eating Disorders Service in Gloucestershire is growing and as part of Community Mental Health Transformation a review of all posts has been completed. We welcome applicants from traditional Mental Health Nursing backgrounds as well as Allied Health Professionals – Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Arts Therapists, Physiotherapists.

The service provides specialist assessment, treatment and support for individuals who are experiencing an eating disorder and their families within Gloucestershire. The GHC Eating Disorders Service is recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic senior clinician to work within a specialist mental health service. The role will predominantly focus on the treatment of children and adults with a complex presentation. The service is based in Cheltenham and Gloucester holding a caseload of 1000 clients.

The post holder will assess, clinically manage, care coordinate and treat children, adolescents and adults with an eating disorder and their families. Working alongside other health care professionals including RMNs, RGN, GPs, Dieticians, AHPs, Psychologists and Consultant Psychiatrists in order to support service users within their recovery.


Main duties of the job

* To work with the supervision of the Highly Specialist Clinician and Band 7 Clinicians with patients with clinically significant eating disorders
* To assess patient and family needs and devise an appropriate care plan, communicating the plan in writing to the patient with copies to their GP, referrer and other involved parties
* To participate in the measurement of outcome, timely recording of clinical notes and communication of any significant clinical changes including ending of treatment in writing to the patient and their GP
* To provide evidence-based treatments for children, adolescents and adults and their families as appropriate (currently Family Based Treatment [FBT], and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy-Enhanced [CBT-E])


Person Specification


Experience

* Experience of treating eating disorders in a community setting
* Experience of assessing and managing risk appropriately


Qualifications

* Relevant Degree e.g. Psychology in addition to a postgraduate level qualification or equivalent experience of working with people with an eating disorder
