Job description
Our client, a key delivery partner within the United Utilities region, is currently seeking an experienced Freelance P6 Planner to support a portfolio of clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established team delivering critical AMP8 programmes in the North West.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Developing, managing, and maintaining detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 for design and construction activities across multiple water projects.
2. Working closely with project and commercial teams to align programmes with contract deliverables and key milestones.
3. Identifying and managing critical paths, risks, and resource constraints.
4. Preparing and presenting regular progress updates, lookaheads, and recovery plans.
5. Liaising with supply chain partners and integrating subcontractor schedules into the master programme.
6. Supporting earned value analysis, delay impact assessments, and change control processes.
7. Contributing to monthly client reporting and planning workshops.
Job Requirements:
8. Proven experience planning water infrastructure or utilities projects - ideally within AMP frameworks (AMP7/AMP8).
9. Strong Primavera P6 expertise.
10. Solid understanding of NEC contract planning principles.
11. Ability to work independently and liaise confidently with multidisciplinary teams.
12. Strong reporting and communication skills.
13. Flexibility to be site/office-based in Preston, with some remote working possible.
Nice to Have:
14. Prior experience working with or for United Utilities or on similar water frameworks.
15. Familiarity with project controls tools such as Power BI or Excel-based reporting dashboards.
16. Engineering or construction-related qualifications.
