Are you passionate about using sport as a tool for change?
We are looking for a high-energy, resilient, and empathetic PE Teaching Assistant / Sports Coach to join our team.
This is for an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) specialist school dedicated to supporting students who find mainstream environments challenging.
In this role, you won’t just be teaching drills; you’ll be building trust. Many of the students have faced trauma or struggle with emotional regulation. You will use PE and physical activity to help them develop self-esteem, teamwork skills, and positive outlets for their energy.
Your Impact:
* Lead & Support: Deliver engaging multi-sports sessions and support the Lead PE Teacher.
* Mentor: Act as a positive role model, using sport to mentor students through difficult moments and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
* Innovate: Help deliver a "sport-for-all" curriculum that engages even the most reluctant learners.
* Collaborate: Work alongside our therapy and pastoral teams to ensure every child’s emotional needs are met during physical activity.
What You’ll Need:
* Experience: Previous experience coaching or working with children is essential. Experience in SEMH, SEND, or youth work is a massive plus.
* Mindset: You need a "thick skin," a calm temperament, and a genuine desire to understand the why behind a child's behaviour.
* Adaptability: The ability to pivot a lesson plan on the fly if a student is having a tough day.
* Qualifications: Level 2 Coaching qualification or a relevant Sports/Education degree is preferred, although experience with children and young people is essential – plus a “can do” attitude.
Why Join Us?
* Small class sizes (typically 6–8 students).
* A highly supportive team who looks out for one another.
* Extensive training in de-escalation and therapeutic approaches.
* The chance to make a visible, life-changing difference every single day
