The Governors of St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School seek to appoint a highly motivated, creative and innovative Teacher of Health and Wellbeing with the ability to teach both Physical Education and Health & Social Care. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the continued development of the Health & Wellbeing Area of Learning and Experience (AoLE) within a forward-thinking and inclusive Catholic school community. Working closely with the AoLE leader, the successful candidate will deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive learning experiences that reflect the principles of the Curriculum for Wales. They will play a key role in securing strong progress and wellbeing outcomes for all learners, ensuring equity of provision and high expectations, particularly for vulnerable groups.
There is also the opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to take on the additional responsibility of Head of Year. In this role, you will provide strong pastoral and ethical leadership, underpinned by Catholic values, ensuring that every learner is known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. You will promote high standards of attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, taking a proactive and inclusive approach to removing barriers to learning. Working in close partnership with families, staff and external agencies, you will ensure that all pupils receive the care, guidance and support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. You will play a key role in monitoring and evaluating pupil progress and wellbeing, using evidence to inform timely and effective interventions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, and a clear understanding of the importance of relationships in securing positive outcomes.
