The main purpose of this role is to provide pastoral care, build relationships, and spearhead/encourage local community engagement, specifically through the church’s local mission ministries, predominantly the Foodbank (approximately 80% of your time) but also e.g. Christians Against Poverty, Greenhouse Cafe and Women’s “Refresh” Group.
You will be a key member of the Foodbank team within our Foodbank centres which are located within the pockets of our community that are most affected by food poverty.
The role is centred on serving and pastorally supporting marginalised and socially isolated individuals by demonstrating God’s love and helping them move from being guests to becoming part of the church family.
This is a highly relational role as you spend your week journeying and supporting our clients and volunteers. It provides evangelistic outreach opportunities which should contribute to new initiatives that create pathways for individuals to explore and grow in the Christian faith.
Key elements include building trust with individuals, engaging in pastoral support for staff and ultimately contributing to the holistic care and discipleship of individuals in the community.
