Overview
Specialist Information Analyst – Vascular Services. We are seeking an experienced person to undertake the role of Specialist Information Analyst within the Information Analysis Team, acting as Account Manager for the Vascular Services. The successful candidate will be proactive and committed to using data to drive service improvement along with using analytical modelling and forecasting while researching new ways of working. The applicant will also be required to attend national groups and work with a wide range of Health Board colleagues on a regular basis. We are looking for a self-starter, motivated to make a difference to patient care. You will need to have excellent mathematical skills and be numerate, curious and with a passion for helping others. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable presenting analytical findings to large groups of cross-professional staff.
Note: Previous experience of the NHS is desirable but not essential; above all you must be comfortable working with numbers and people, a logical and analytical thinker, and highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite of products. You will share our commitment for high quality information to support organisational decision making.
Main duties of the job
* Produce various reports and analyses, exercising your expert opinion, and provide advice and guidance in written reports and formal presentations.
* Design effective reports that meet user requirements, solve problems, and translate abstract concepts into tangible solutions.
* Maintain a flexible and adaptable approach to work in a fast-paced environment; participate in induction and training where offered.
* Attend national groups and work with a wide range of Health Board colleagues; travel between sites as required by the service.
* Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders; support decision making with high-quality information.
Location and working arrangements
In the Informatics department we operate a hybrid work model. You will be based in one of the three sites (Bangor, Abergele or Wrexham Hospitals) with regular travel across sites as required. Working from home is possible where required.
Requirements
Qualifications/Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience.
* Post-graduate diploma in Informatics/Statistical subject or equivalent relevant experience.
* Specialist knowledge of a range of statistical techniques (e.g., SPC, Standard Deviation, Confidence Intervals, ANOVA).
Desirable criteria
* Membership of an Informatics Professional Body (e.g., British Computer Society or UKCHIP)
* Welsh speaker.
* Management Experience.
* ‘A’ Level Mathematics.
Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant experience in an analytical role across multiple areas.
* Specialist knowledge of the Health Board’s computerised administration systems.
* Experience with statistics and numeracy at a high level.
* Specialist knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, Power BI & Access).
* Ability to translate National Minimum Datasets/ NHS information codes into meaningful information for end users.
* Knowledge of National Data Dictionary items and NHS information codes.
* Understanding of Data Protection and Freedom of Information policies.
