Role Purpose: Chess Dynamics is an established leading design and manufacturing business with several sites across the UK. Our product range is cutting-edge and serves the defence industry with products that meet specific client requirements, driving innovation is at the heart of everything we do. To support continued business growth, a new ERP system was recently implemented to replace existing business planning tools. As part of this process, there is a requirement for a Configuration Engineer to support the restructuring and migration of Engineering and Production data from existing business systems to the new ERP system (Epicor Kinetic). This role will also support the engineering team with creating ECOs and CRs. Key Responsibilities: Cleanse and migrate existing parts and BOMs to a new numbering scheme, including normalisation of part data (e.g. descriptions) and restructuring of BOMs. Process Change Requests (CRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to align with new ERP platform requirements. Re-structure existing BOMs and related data into an agreed format. Reformat part data and BOMs for compatibility with direct ERP import. Verify the integrity of parts and BOMs during cleansing, restructuring, and final import into ERP system. Generate ERP support documentation as required. Manage design data to ensure consistent creation of build data. Lead production readiness reviews to ensure smooth hand over from Engineering to production. Skills & Experience Essential Good understanding of best practice of part-numbering and BOM structure suitable for a low to medium volume, high-tech computer/electronics Product business. Supported by strong hands-on experience, and willingness to do the “heavy lifting” on data migration. Good understanding and practical experience of ERP systems within Engineering & Production for SMEs. Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTEC Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications. Have proven experience in an engineering and production environment. Be able to communicate effectively with other stakeholders. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel. Be an enthusiastic team player but able to work on your own initiative. Desirable Experience with Epicor ERP. Experience with Jira and Confluence.
