Machining Cell Manager required in South Leicester. Permanent, day shift Monday - Friday. £38K - £42K +Bonus, great benefits and prospects.
We have recruited for this growing Manufacturer of components for the aerospace and power generation industries for over 20 years. They have a very professional reputation offering great working conditions and future prospects.
Cell Manager role:
The area includes processes such as creep feed grinding, electrical discharge machining, milling and turning. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Cell Manager supervises 15-20 operators and team leaders who operate on a 24/5 shift pattern.
The Cell Manager will be responsible for Health and Safety (including 6S implementation), production planning and output, quality and manufacturing cost control within the cell. The Cell Manager will also be responsible for driving the changes needed to hit the cell planned ESH, efficiency targets and variable cost, while keeping the necessary cell throughput to support sales.
Requirements for Cell Manager:
* Proven experience of supervision within a fast paced manufacturing facility
* Excellent people management skills with the ability to get the best out of a team
* Good understanding of key manufacturing processes and matrices (TOC, 6S, Lean manufacturing & variable cost control etc.)
Qualifications
Formal qualification (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline
Recognized qualification in Health and Safety / Environment would be advantageous (i.e. IOSH / NEBOSH)
CNC Cell Manager Responsibilities:
* Manage all key Health and Safety responsibilities for the section, conducting audits, RYS, one counts and managing Gensuite actions.
* Manage daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly production output, measured in Earned Standard Hours to support monthly and quarterly Facility sales plan
* Manage production areas to ensure quality targets are achieved.
* Manage Variable Cost (VC) for the section, including labour utilisation (productivity), to meet VC targets for the area.
* Ensure that level weekly throughput is maintained for production areas
* Analyse main quality issues affecting the cell and implement, with the support of quality and engineering departments, the actions to reduce non-value added activities such as rework and non-conformance.
* Organize and execute training and development plan, to ensure all operators can support and complete multiple operations, planning to removing single point failure due to operator skill sets.
* Drive 6S implementation in the area.
* Provide direct line management of production work force, including, but not restricted to, absence cover, labour allocation, recruitment support and delivery, disciplinary, investigations and hearings due to absence, lateness, quality, performance, conduct, etc
* 1Evaluate team performance through regular performance reviews, manage promotions, job transfers and commendations
* Identify opportunities for skill development and career growth. Providing guidance and support to help employees enhance their skills and achieve their professional goals
* Operator Performance Target Time implementation and management using Visual Factories software
* Work with engineering departments to support operation improvement activities using visual factories and other lean manufacturing tools.
* Work with engineering department to support the introduction of new products into the facility
* Ensure adhere to all company policies and procedures, including but not restricted to: SOX, Code of Conduct, Health and Safety, quality assurance, etc.
* Undertake any other duties required by the operations manager to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing process
* Manage, drive, utilise & review area team leaders performance to assist in delivering all operational metrics.
