Compensation Range: $5,652.37- $7,986.65 (Steps 1-15) (Monthly Rate)

Summary of Duties
Under general supervision, coordinates wellness (mental health) services for our Head Start-Early Head Start children, families and staff. Requires ability to work collaboratively with consultants and staff in assessing children/staff needs to develop intervention and support in classrooms. Includes ongoing, monitoring of supports, child files, MOUs and other regulatory requirements. The “Wellness” Mental Health Coordinator performs a varied range of supervisory and professional duties related to mental health by planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring mental health services conducted by Mental Health Consultants, for children/families and staff; ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, serves as an advocate for family and child mental health issues, conveying policies and procedures and formal speaking with community partners; interfaces with consultants, families, students, District staff, and community agencies/resources.

* Assist staff in recognizing and supporting mental health issues of enrolled children and families, and providing appropriate referrals while completing follow-ups through the process
* Assist, coordinate, and track mental health referrals and services through data entries, compiling reports in ChildPlus, Head Start PIR (Program Information Report), and other program data to report accurate data analysis and program status.
* Collaborate with the educational team to develop effective strategies to support children with evident behavioral difficulties
* *Conducts functional behavioral analyses and prepares behavioral intervention plans
* *Conduct psychological screening and/or detailed individual analysis of children using techniques and resources utilized in assessing, evaluating, and diagnosing, and identifying special needs, and recommend supportive services
* Works closely with Education managers and staff, including teaching teams, to identify strategies and implementation of activities in the daily lesson plans
* Ensures to prepare and present progress monthly reports and data collection to support staff, Early Head Start/Head Start/State Preschool delegate agency personnel as assigned, and internal/external entities
* Ensures to properly monitor and track referrals and establishes contact with families consenting or declining services
* *Evaluates psychological and social-emotional needs of children within Early Head Start/Head Start/and State Preschool programs
* Facilitates and encourages active participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDT) to identify family/child strengths and collaboratively identify opportunities for support with internal and external resources.
* Provides guidance and leadership to staff and families in identifying and accommodating children with mental health needs.
* *Provide mental health consultation, wellness promotion and assistance to families and staff regarding attainment of Individual.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
Education:
* Minimum educational qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social sciences or behavioral sciences field, mental health and psychology are highly desirable.
* *Doctoral Degree in clinical psychology, educational psychology, or a degree deemed equivalent by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Licensed MFT, LCSW or PhD) is preferred. *
Experience:
* Three years of experience in social services involving social work, family or mental health counseling, psychology, or related field.
* Preferred experience working with children 0-5 years in early childhood center settings such as Head Start, Early Head Start and State Preschool*
* Preferred Experience: ChildPlus
Knowledge & Skills:
* Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing needs of the position to meet program goals and address emerging concerns/issues in the organization and/or service area
* Ability to summarize data and prepare written reports for various audiences
* Communicate effectively orally and in writing
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups
* Exercises considerable professional judgment and autonomy in decision-making with respect to the allocation of resources to pursue mental health services and meet HSPS program requirements.
* Knowledge of Head Start Regulations and CDE Funding Terms and Conditions
* Strong leadership, team management, organizational, and communication skills; ability to successfully interface with others
* Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Programs, software database systems such as ChildPlus, and using Virtual Platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom to set up and conduct meetings to actively participate and support program staff and families.
Licenses/Permits/Certifications:
* Valid Class C California driver’s license and legally required automobile insurance
* *Licensed Psychologist or equivalent by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences*
REQUIREMENTS
Prior to hire, the following must be assured:
Eligibility to Work: All potential employees will be asked to present supporting documents establishing proof of identity and employment eligibility upon completing the I-9 Form.
Medical Examination: Must submit a medical examination demonstrating capability to perform the type of work required and must submit a tuberculosis exam. Proof of the following immunizations: Influenza (wavier form is available upon request), Measles (MMR), and Pertussis TDAP (Whooping Cough).
Fingerprint Clearances: All potential employees will be subject to fingerprint clearances from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Child Abuse Index (CACI), prior to starting employment.
Other Special Requirement: Must have the use of an automobile with adequate insurance coverage and a valid California’s Driver’s License or have reliable transportation.

Foundation for ECE currently operates nineteen sites in Los Angeles City located in: Boyle Heights, Echo Park, Hollywood, and Lincoln Height.
