Winchester City Council is seeking to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Building Control Surveyor to join its friendly yet busy Building Control Team. You will work with a team of surveyors responding to service demand across 250 square miles of central Hampshire, which includes historic towns, villages, and rural areas.

Responsibilities
The candidate must have experience in plans checks and onsite inspections, excellent communication skills, strong IT skills, attention to detail, and the ability to organise and prioritise workload. Knowledge of the Building Act 1984, associated Building Regulations, and the Building Safety Act 2022 is essential.
Applicants should demonstrate attainment of at least Class 2 competency with the Building Safety Regulator and membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, or equivalent.
The role is predominantly site-based; therefore, physical fitness and ability to travel are required.
Previous experience in local government building control is advantageous, as is a positive attitude and attention to detail.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
* At least 3 years post-qualification experience in a Building Control environment
* Experience in inspection, survey, and/or design of construction works
* Knowledge of construction standards, public safety, and relevant legislation
* Membership of RICS, CABE, or equivalent with building control experience
* Minimum BSR Level 2 competency
