About the role

We have an exciting vacancy for a talented and experienced Involving People Coordinator.

This new post will support and develop the SSSC’s approach to involving our stakeholders including people with lived experience of social work, social care and children and young people services and bringing their voices into our work.

In this role you will manage our approach to external engagement, working with colleagues to involve the right people at the right time in our work and acting on feedback and intelligence to improve and develop our services that support the sector we work in.

The role is in our Communications and Policy Department in the Workforce Education and Standards Directorate.

You will work with your colleagues across the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and with our partners, developing networks, generating ideas and developing innovative and creative ways to capture and present the experiences of involvement.

This role is suitable for secondment arrangements up to 24 months – at the end of the secondment the post holder will return to their substantive post and organisation.

Who we are

We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social work, social care and children and young people services being provided by a trusted, skilled, confident and valued workforce.

We protect the public by registering people working in social work, social care and children and young people services, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and act.

We acknowledge that our workforce is not inclusive of all experiences.

At the Scottish Social Services Council, we recognise that our organisation does not yet reflect the full diversity of the people and communities we serve across Scotland’s social services sector.

Some stories are still missing and we are committed to changing that

We want to build more inclusive and representative teams, ones that welcome and value people of all backgrounds, including those from racialised communities, disabled people, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with care experience, and others whose voices have historically been underrepresented.

Your story matters. Your perspective can help shape how we support and regulate the social service workforce in Scotland. There is a place for you at the SSSC – join us in making sure every story is seen, heard and valued.

What you need to succeed

You will:

* be educated toSCQF Level 9(eg degree or graducate diploma) in a relevant subject and have well-developed influencing, organisational and problem solving skills
* have professional experience in involvement and participation
* have experience of stakeholder engagement, involvement, co-design and participation principles and methodologies
* have experience of analysing insights, preparing reports and making recommendations to staff at all levels
* have experience of coordinating and facilitating engagement activity with groups
* have demonstrable understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in relation to involving people in service design
* have experience of working with and managing external networks especially those for people using social work, social care and early years services and carers
* have experience of planning, managing and evaluating campaigns
* be a skilled, customer focused communicator.
