Position: Senior Support Worker / Team leader for Children's residential Home
Key Responsibilities
* Providing high-quality care and safeguarding for children and young people.
* Lead shifts effectively, ensuring staff are deployed appropriately to meet the needs of young people.
* Supporting children with their education, health, and social activities.
* Contributing to care plans and ensuring accurate records are maintained.
* Supervise, mentor, and coach staff, supporting their professional development.
* Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and child-centred care.
Care of Children & Young People
* Ensure the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of young people are met in line with their individual care plans.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, acting as a consistent and reliable role model.
* Support children in developing life skills, resilience, and independence.
* Manage challenging behaviours in line with behaviour management policies, de-escalation techniques, and therapeutic approaches.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, ensuring that all concerns are reported in line with safeguarding policies and statutory guidance.
Operational Duties
* Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the smooth running of the home.
* Take responsibility for the home in the absence of senior managers, ensuring continuity of care.
* Support rota management, ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained.
* Conduct regular supervisions and contribute to staff appraisals, performance management, and disciplinary processes where required.
* Assist with recruitment, induction, and training of new staff members.
Essential Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent (essential).
· Minimum 3 years' experience.
* Experience in Physical intervention (PMVA / MAPA etc).
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
* A full, valid UK driving licence (desirable).
