We are looking for a Project Director to join the Projects at Thermatic Technical FM. To lead, inspire, and manage the Project Division of Thermatic Technical FM in order to deliver safe, quality projects for a national client base. As Project Director you are responsible for the delivery and growth of M&E and building services projects for the multiple sectors including retail, healthcare, health and fitness, and construction. You will lead a team of Project Managers, Designers, Coordinators, and Engineers, and be responsible for the continual improvement of the division. Previous leadership experience as a Senior Project Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Head of Projects would be crucial to fulfill this role. Regular hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week. Strong ability to manage a P&L and truly understand the numbers Responsibilities include: As Project Director, you will lead the division’s programme management, overseeing all ongoing projects and contracts. You will provide strategic leadership to the project team, ensuring client requirements are met through effective planning and delivery. You will play a key role in business development, while managing the supply chain to deliver capital projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. A strong advocate for continuous improvement, you will foster a culture of innovation and safety, encouraging team input and implementing enhancements. You will work closely with clients to understand and deliver their key objectives, while driving the business towards Net Zero and the decarbonisation of the built environment. Commercial and business risk will be managed under your leadership, with accountability for resolving critical issues and aligning project scope with company goals. You will own the divisional P&L, setting budgets, monitoring progress, and maximising profitability. You’ll bring expertise in commercial contracts (JCT Minor Works, NEC Level 3), the RIBA design stages, and have a solid grasp of project tracking, margin control, spend analysis, and health reporting. Leading a team of 8 direct and 11 indirect reports, you’ll shape the delivery of design and build schemes while promoting a high-performance culture through mentoring, development, and regular performance reviews. Safety is a key priority—you will ensure compliance with CDM and HSE regulations, lead audits, and implement group-level health, safety, and compliance initiatives. You’ll also oversee continual team training to stay ahead of legislative and industry changes.
