Job Overview
Our client, a leading manufacturer in their sector, is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for all Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) matters to ensure the safe and compliant operation of the business. Your duties will include conducting audits, maintaining documentation, and delivering training.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in line with current legislation
* Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, producing detailed reports with recommendations
* Deliver health and safety training and inductions to employees and contractors
* Maintain accurate records of health and safety audits, inspections, incidents, and training
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
* Promote a positive health and safety culture across the organisation
* Stay updated with changes in health and safety legislation and best practices
* Assist with environmental management duties (e.g., waste disposal, spill response)
* Advise management on health and safety matters and recommend improvements
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience within a similar role
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification preferred
* Strong knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence staff at all levels
* Confidence in delivering training and leading toolbox talks or safety briefings
* Proficiency in writing reports, policies, and risk assessments
* Full UK driving licence
