SEMH Teaching Assistant – Gateshead (PRU Setting) Start: January Contract: Full time, long term Looking for a role where you can make a real difference every single day? We’re working with a PRU-style provision in Gateshead that supports pupils who struggle in mainstream settings and need calm, consistent adults around them. You’ll be working with small groups and 1:1, helping pupils regulate emotions, rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning. The team values patience, humour and a steady presence, so if you’re someone pupils naturally warm to, you’ll fit right in. You’ll be doing: • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour • Using de-escalation and restorative approaches • Helping pupils build routines, confidence and independence • Working alongside a skilled pastoral team What you’ll need: • Experience in SEMH, PRU or behaviour support • A calm, resilient approach • Confidence supporting dysregulated behaviour All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
