An exciting and unique opportunity is available for a motivated individual to coordinate and deliver a technician‑led annual complication screening service for adult diabetes patients within the Bedford Hospital outpatient department.
Main duties of the job
1. Arrange patient attendance at the complications screening clinic 4–6 weeks before clinician appointments.
2. Carry out all annual review checks: foot examination, blood tests, urine test (ACR), and blood pressure measurement.
3. Confirm patients are up to date with eye checks and document this.
4. Record results in the diabetes database.
5. Inform patients of blood and urine results before their clinician consultation, enabling them to prepare discussion points.
6. Collect data for audit to evaluate service efficiency.
7. Assist with writing, distributing, and auditing patient satisfaction questionnaires.
8. Independently plan and deliver assigned tasks.
9. Address patient queries regarding equipment and provide appropriate literature.
10. Update computer systems, ensuring accurate patient information in the Diamond diabetes database.
11. Manage own time effectively and prioritise workload.
12. Demonstrate ability to use IT systems including Excel, Electronic Patient Record, and ICE.

23. Ensure practice aligns with departmental policies and protocols.
