Job Summary
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to lead our divisional reporting function and drive high‑quality insight across the organisation. This pivotal role sits at the heart of our digital and data agenda, ensuring the Trust has timely, accurate and meaningful information to support clinical excellence, operational performance and strategic decision‑making.
Main Duties of the Job
* Lead the Trust's BI service, delivering high‑quality reporting, analysis and insight.
* Manage BI teams, statutory data submissions and BI systems across acute and community datasets.
* Develop strategies, dashboards and data processes aligned with organisational priorities.
* Support clinical and operational decision‑making, drive service improvement, ensure data quality and maintain strong partnerships across internal and external stakeholders.
* Work closely with our data quality, data engineering and data‑warehouse team on innovative approaches to analytics and reporting.
* Support and develop our staff and service – key to the success of this role.
Location & Working Arrangements
The team's main base is at the Trust’s West Suffolk Hospital site but you will support staff working in our Ipswich location as well, so the ability to travel between the two is essential. You will need to be working on site at least 40% of the time – a fully remote role will not be considered.

* Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and empower others. Effective self‑management and motivation.

* Ability to present complex information analyses to senior managers.

Desirable Education & Qualification

* PRINCE2 or equivalent project/programme management qualification from recognised professional body (e.g. APM, PMI).
Experience and Knowledge – Essential
* Substantial experience in an NHS or public sector setting. Experience in close working with clinical and operational services. Detailed knowledge of processing NHS Information, relevant national guidance and NHS data definitions.
* Substantial experience in staff and team management.
* Significant experience in managing a BI service.
* Experience of interpreting, analysing and presenting complex data. Sound grasp of analytical techniques and experience of using them.
* Advanced experience of a wide range of report writing and analysis tools.
* MS SQL Server or equivalent experience, budget and resource management, risk management, project/programme management experience.
* Development and implementation of policies, SOPs, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion.
Desirable Experience and Knowledge
* Good knowledge of business change techniques.
* Experience in developing and implementing roadmaps and strategies.
* Use of reporting tools linked to SQL databases incorporating OLAP "cubes".
* Use of MS Reporting Services.
