The role We're looking for a driven, experienced, and entrepreneurial Corporate Solicitor to join our Birmingham office as a senior associate. The successful candidate will enjoy working across a diverse range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, private equity and venture capital, fundraising, shareholder agreements, joint ventures, and general corporate advisory work. Our Birmingham team currently comprises 15 corporate lawyers, forming part of a national practice of around 100 corporate specialists, with approximately 350 staff based in Birmingham overall. You'll have the opportunity to advise a wide spectrum of clients-from innovative start-ups and university spinouts to established companies, management teams, and institutions-on a broad array of corporate transactions and strategic issues. Many of these engagements will have an international dimension. The person You'll be a qualified solicitor with a minimum of 4 years' PQE, having gained experience at an international, national, or well-regarded regional firm. You'll have a strong background in transactional corporate work and be confident managing deals either independently or as part of a team. We're looking for someone who is not only technically capable but also enthusiastic about contributing to the growth of the team and wider practice. You're likely to bring: Proven ability to run corporate transactions as the day-to-day fee earner, with appropriate senior support Strong experience in M&A work Familiarity with private equity structures and transactions (beneficial but not essential) A genuine interest in working across a broad range of corporate matters Willingness to take part in marketing and business development initiatives The activities Transactional Support Playing a central role in the delivery of M&A, private equity, and other corporate transactions, working under the guidance of a Partner and/or Principal Associate. You'll be responsible for drafting key transaction documents and managing deal progress, with a supportive senior and junior team. Coordinate with junior team members and collaborate with colleagues across other departments to ensure seamless delivery on complex transactions. Working closely with the Birmingham team, with the ability to work across our other 6 offices to gain broader experience. Business Development We actively encourage our senior associates to engage in business development. Delegation and Supervision The role also offers the opportunity to develop supervision and leadership skills. You'll have the ability to delegate work to a number of junior lawyers based in our Birmingham office and play a key role in their professional development.
