Job Description Job Description: Estimator – Commercial Reports to: Estimating Manager/Commercial Manager Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with a strong background in aluminium glazing systems within new-build residential and commercial markets looking after all aspects of the estimating process for commercial glazing projects, ensuring timely, accurate, and competitive submissions. The successful candidate will collaborate with the commercial team, clients, and supply chain to price projects and contribute to securing contracts that align with company goals. Key Responsibilities: • Tender Management: o Review tender documents, specifications, and drawings to understand project requirements. o Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for glazing and façade projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. • Pricing and Submissions: o Price projects and prepare and review estimations o Develop pricing documents, cost breakdowns, and technical submissions to support bids. o Work with software tools such as Logikal and others • Value Engineering: o Identify opportunities for cost savings and provide value engineering options to clients without compromising project integrity or safety. • Collaboration and Communication: o Liaise with architects, contractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and ensure smooth bid preparation. o Maintain open communication with clients during post-tender phases, providing updates and feedback to secure projects. • Team Leadership: o Assist junior estimators with quantity take-offs, measures, and technical guidance. o Review and refine team submissions to ensure consistency and quality. • Project Support: o Support the project start-up phase by assisting with requisitions, supplier negotiations, and order planning as needed. o Maintain detailed records of sales activity, providing progress updates to senior management. Key Skills & Qualifications: • Industry Knowledge: o Proficient in aluminium and upvc glazing systems. • Technical Expertise: o Advanced proficiency in estimating software. • Analytical Skills: o Ability to interpret complex architectural and technical drawings. o Proficient in creating financial models and cost analyses. • Communication and Leadership: o Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build strong client and supply chain relationships. o Capable of managing and mentoring team members while meeting deadlines under pressure.
