Job Title: Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Helping Pupils Find Their Feet
Location: Bradford
Salary: £88–£110 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
Start Date: September 2025
Some pupils aren’t quite ready for the classroom—but with the right support, they will be. Could you be the calm, consistent adult who helps them get there?
We’re working with a nurturing primary school in Bradford that’s looking for a patient, proactive Teaching Assistant to work closely with pupils in Year 1 who are still learning how to ‘do’ school—things like sitting in a group, following routines, or just making it through the day with a smile.
This role is all about building trust, creating structure, and celebrating small wins that lead to big progress.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups to develop learning behaviours
Helping children settle into routines like circle time, phonics, and transitions
Using visual timetables, sensory breaks, and calm-down strategies
Working with class teachers, SEND staff, and parents to create a joined-up approach
What you’ll need:
Experience with EYFS or KS1 pupils, especially those with additional needs
A nurturing, calm presence and a flexible mindset
Confidence in setting boundaries kindly but clearly
A real love for the ‘tiny wins’—because they matter most
Even better if you’re Thrive trained! If not, we’ll get you signed up for our free Thrive Approach CPD—schools love it, and it’ll strengthen your toolkit.
