An established and growing FMCG food manufacturer is seeking a proactive and hands-on Manufacturing / Maintenance Engineer to join its production team in Chichester. This is a key role supporting the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced food manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out reactive and planned maintenance on production machinery and associated equipment.
* Minimise downtime and disruption through effective fault-finding and prompt repairs.
* Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency.
* Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure smooth operation of manufacturing lines.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts, and asset care.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, hygiene, and site policies.
* Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and process optimisation projects.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role within an FMCG or food production environment.
* Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills (multi-skilled preferred).
* Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
* Flexible, hands-on, and solutions-oriented mindset.
* Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, ONC/HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).
* Experience with automated production lines, packaging machinery, or manufacturing equipment.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
* GMP
* 17th/18th Edition Electrical qualification (if electrically biased).
