Job description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-qualified accountant to join our Strategic Finance group. This role is pivotal in supporting financial planning, analysis, and decision-making across the Agency, ensuring robust financial management and compliance with best practice and government frameworks.
Key responsibilities:
* Providing comprehensive information and support to business area(s) on financial matters and ensure models and reports are updated as required.
* Providing input and support to the development and/or implementation of financial policies and processes.
* Completing assignments and ad-hoc pieces of work relating to the area as agreed by the Head of Group and Unit Manager in compliance with the terms and conditions agreed at the outset.
* Developing subject matter expertise supporting and advising on relevant financial activities, standards, legislation and best practice.
* Ensuring accuracy, validity and quality of financial information.
* Developing and maintaining good working relationships with finance business partners, business colleagues, customers and stakeholders in relation to business as usual and/or development programmes, ensuring due process is followed.
* Ensuring individuals and team colleagues adhere to Data Protection, Security, Health and Safety policies and understand relevant employment law.
* To develop, maintain and analyse unit cost models to support financial planning and decision making.
* To track and monitor efficiencies across the Agency, ensuring high quality data collection and reporting and providing advice on best practice and compliance in line with the Government Efficiency Framework.

Person specification
Essential Qualifications:
* You must be part-qualified and actively studying the professional level of CCAB or CIMA examinations.
Demonstrable potential to develop into an effective finance professional is essential. If currently part-qualified, it is expected that you will work towards achieving full qualification over time.
You will be required to provide evidence of your essential qualifications during the recruitment process. Failure to do so will result in your application being withdrawn.
Required experience:
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
* Strategic financial insight: Use of financial analysis or modelling to influence strategic outcomes.
* Influence and Collaboration: Ability to influence at all levels and promote collaborative working within and across teams.
* Technical financial knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and application of financial standards, frameworks and policies.
* Workload management: How you prioritise and organise workload to meet competing deadlines effectively.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are essential, including the ability to communicate effectively with all audiences, promoting collaborative working across the Agency.
Attention to detail and accuracy is key, supported by mature Excel, Word and Power Point skills. You will be able to work autonomously with the ability to learn quickly, whilst delivering to deadlines.

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
