As a People Compliance Advisor for Oliver James, you will join the Oliver James Global Legal Team as part of its Employment Law Service in a centralised Group global Legal Team based in Manchester. This is a project-based role, with opportunities to also support the Employment Law and People teams' advisory services. You will report to the Head of Employment Law as part of the Legal Team at Oliver James and work closely with its People team to facilitate the implementation of several key Employment Law and People projects, whilst providing additional support to the People team on employee relations matters. The Legal and People teams greatly value camaraderie, collaboration, and a strong work ethic. To perform this role well, we require: 5 years of practical experience in an HR or employment law role; Experience in a global HR or global employment law environment ; CIPD level 5 or legally qualified desirable (not essential); Experience of HR policy review / drafting; Knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations; Ability to balance compliance with commercial considerations; Strong motivation to drive matters to a conclusion; Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively; A demonstrable desire & enthusiasm for developing new optimisation processes; An interest in working in a dynamic and global in-house legal team; and A highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast paced and dynamic setting. An insight into some of your responsibilities: Support key global Employment Law and People compliance projects : play a lead role, working alongside the People team, in contributing to the successful implementation of Employment Law and People compliance projects, ensuring alignment with legal requirements, best practices and OJ's culture. People policy and compliance subject matter expert : act as a go-to advisor on Employment Law and People compliance and HR policy, playing a lead role on the drafting, review, and governance of global policies and frameworks. Employee Relations advisory: provide practical and informed support to the People team on global employee relations matters. Cross-functional collaboration : facilitation of cross-functional collaboration between the OJ Legal Team and People Team, providing internal advisory, research and review support. Risk & compliance monitoring : support the proactive identification and mitigation of people-related compliance risks.
