Electricity Distribution - Network Planner
We are recruiting a Grade 6 Network Planner to join our team at Northampton or Milton Keynes depots. In this role you will design the network and work closely with Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter and replace energy equipment. The pace is fast and we expect you to provide excellent service while minimising any impact on our customers.
Essential Qualifications
* Academic: English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 (or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2 or above).
* Technical: Level 2 City & Guilds 2339, or equivalent.
* Training: Evidence of qualifications is required; if not already attained, you will need to complete Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 during your training period.
Feasibility of Hybrid Working
Once your initial training is completed, you may work a mix of office and home-based duties. Hybrid working is considered on a case‑by‑case basis and must meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Hands‑on project design, costing and quoting for the replacement/diversion/reinforcement of existing electricity network assets on the high‑voltage network.
* Prepare capital projects, scheme documentation, off‑site coordination, way‑leaves, notices, material schedules, terms, quotations and agreements.
* Work with the Grade 7 Network Planner to meet overall network requirements and approve individual projects.
* Resolve customer complaints and coordinate with stakeholders.
* Set up scheme files, monitor costs, identify variances and take corrective action.
* Inspect sites and draft and review developer plans.
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience as a Grade 5 Network Planner, or an electrical background with a relevant qualification.
* Strong communication, organisational and prioritisation skills; capable of managing your own diary.
* Team player, proactive, consultative approach.
* Proficient with iPad, computer and other internal software.
* Full UK driving licence and ability to travel for site visits.
Additional Requirements
* Pass a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check; level of check depends on the role.
* No sponsorship for employment under the UK points‑based immigration system unless an exceptional specialist skill is required.
