Social Worker - Meadowlark Academy - Social Emotional Learning Schools - St. Helens - 26/27 School Year - PART TIME


Position Details

* Position Title: Social Worker
* Department: Social Emotional Learning Schools
* Location: Meadowlark Academy – located within Lewis & Clark Elementary – St. Helen's School District
* Reports To: Principal
* Compensation: Per negotiated contract, Licensed Salary Schedule
* Bargaining Unit: NWEA
* FTE: 0.50 (4 hours per day; 20 hours per week)
* Work Days: 192

General Duties

In alignment with the NWRESD mission, the Social Worker supports and advances the district’s academic mission by delivering comprehensive services that strengthen partnerships among home, school, and community. The role focuses on identifying and addressing barriers that impact student learning through assessment, counseling, consultation, coordination of school and community resources, and program development. The Social Worker fosters a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment, promotes understanding of students’ social and emotional development, and implements intervention strategies to enhance student well‑being and academic success. The Social Worker collaborates with parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners to develop and implement strategies that encourage positive student engagement and strengthen overall school connectedness.


Qualifications

* Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling (required)
* Current LCSW License, TSPC School Social Worker License, TSPC Restricted School Social Worker License, or eligible for a Restricted School Social Worker License, current LPC License, LPC Registered Associate, or TSPC School Counselor License
* Experience and/or training in direct mental health skill building and therapeutic interventions
* Ability to travel to school sites, community programs, and home visits across Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington counties
* Valid Driver’s License with available transportation and proof of auto insurance


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Proficiency in computers and internet‑based applications (email, internet software, Google Suite, MS Word)

* Advocacy, modeling, and support for district‑level initiatives on racial equity and culturally responsive practices
* Design and delivery of professional development training for certified and classified school personnel


Essential Functions

1. Locate and mobilize school and community resources to support Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education, and Social Emotional Learning programs.
2. Collaborate with school staff to identify, determine, and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies for social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
3. Serve as a liaison between families and the program to promote collaborative educational planning and encourage parent/guardian participation.
4. Serve on program‑based and system‑wide committees addressing climate, equity, educational issues, school adjustment, safety, social‑emotional learning, and program development.
5. Participate as a member of IFSP/IEP and other school‑based teams to develop interventions for students’ academic success.
6. Conduct staff development on trauma, addiction, equity, and the social‑emotional and environmental factors that impact learning.
7. Act as a liaison between program, families, and community agencies.
8. Utilize community resources to meet family and student needs.
9. Keep current on available community services.
10. Make referrals to community agencies (counseling, financial assistance, medical, psychological, etc.).
11. Identify and develop strategies to relieve barriers to accessing services.
12. Assist in recognizing and identifying child abuse and neglect situations.
13. Report child abuse, neglect, and educational neglect situations as required by law.
14. Ensure students’ educational, social, emotional, health, and material needs are met in accordance with laws and regulations.
15. Conduct needs assessment with individual students, families, and groups to determine scope of services.
16. Provide direct services to students and families.
17. Counsel students and families on issues interfering with service access.
18. Provide and coordinate crisis intervention services.
19. Conduct home visits to establish communication and positive connections between parents/guardians and the school.
20. Deliver parent and guardian workshops on child development, stress management, problem solving, self‑regulation, personal safety, and effective communication.
21. Consult staff on trauma‑informed practice and behavioral‑emotional‑environmental issues affecting child development.
22. Attend required meetings and professional development activities.
23. Perform other duties as assigned.
