Regional Transport Manager - North West
Our client is a well-established national haulage operator with a strong footprint across the UK. Renowned for delivering reliable, compliant, and cost-effective road transport solutions, the business plays a key role in supporting supply chains across multiple industries.
The Role
As Regional Transport Manager, you will take full responsibility for the performance of the haulage operation across the region. You will lead multiple depots and fleets, ensuring safe, efficient, and legally compliant road transport operations while driving continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
* Full operational oversight of regional transport activities, ensuring on-time delivery and fleet efficiency
* Developing and executing transport strategies to improve productivity, utilisation, and cost control
* Leading, coaching, and developing transport managers, planners, and driver teams
* Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence undertakings, drivers’ hours, tachographs, and all relevant transport legislation
* Championing health & safety and road risk standards across the fleet
* Monitoring KPIs including service levels, fleet performance, compliance, and cost metrics
* Acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners
* Building strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to support operational excellence
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong leadership experience from a haulage or road transport environment, along with a commercial and compliance-focused mindset.
You will ideally have:
* National or International transport management CPC
* Proven experience managing multi-site haulage or distribution operations
* Strong knowledge of road transport legislation, Operator Licence compliance, and health & safety
* Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate large operational teams
* Experience using transport management systems and performance reporting tools
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* A strategic approach with the ability to drive continuous improvement
* Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, operationally demanding environment
