We are an established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and public-sector developments. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Head Office team in Newry.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the preparation of competitive tenders and cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects. Working closely with the pre-construction, commercial, and delivery teams, you will help secure new business opportunities while ensuring accurate and commercially viable submissions.
Key Responsibilities
* Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
* Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
* Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
* Conduct quantity take-offs and pricing exercises.
* Identify risks and value-engineering opportunities.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
* Assist in preparing tender reports and presentations.
* Maintain cost databases and market intelligence.
Requirements
* Previous experience in an Estimator role within a main contracting environment.
* Strong understanding of construction methods and building contracts.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
