About the Role:
You will lead the overall social media presence and content strategy for Cotton Works Wigan, with a special focus on our Food & Beverage offerings. You will combine creative content creation (photos, video, storytelling) with data-driven decision making to build brand awareness, grow our community, attract customers, and drive footfall/reservations through engaging, platform-specific content leading to our soon to be new website.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Although these can vary depending on the needs of the business, the core responsibilities include:
* Develop and own the social media strategy across all relevant platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and some LinkedIn) tailored to the F&B context of Cotton Works (bars, restaurants,events, etc.).
* Create high-quality, on-brand visual and video content (shooting, editing, post-processing) for feeds, stories, reels, short-form video, as well as longer-form where relevant (e.g. event promos, behind-the-scenes, chef features).
* Write engaging copy for posts, captions, and other content, aligned with brand tone and marketing goals.
* Manage the full content calendar: planning ahead, scheduling posts, reacting to timely opportunities (new menu items, events, promotions).
* Monitor social media performance: track metrics (engagement, reach, follower growth, click-throughs, conversions to bookings or footfall), analyse data and produce regular performance reports.
* Use insights and analytics to iterate and optimise content strategy A/B testing, identifying what works (content type, posting time, format) and scaling successful strategies.
* Engage with the online community: respond to comments/messages, manage reviews/feedback where relevant, moderate conversation, and build brand loyalty.
* Work closely with operations, marketing, kitchen/staff teams to stay informed about upcoming events, menu changes or promotions to ensure social media reflects real-time business activity.
* Ensure consistency of brand voice, visual identity and messaging across all social media channels.
* Stay up-to-date with social media trends, platform algorithm changes, and industry best practices — especially within hospitality / F&B / local venues context.
* Develop and implement marketing strategies to achieve business objectives and drive commercial performance.
What You'll Do Day-to-Day
* Plan content calendar for the month ahead (photos/videos, captions, scheduling).
* Shoot and produce content (e.g. menu photos, video of kitchen, behind-the-scenes, events, staff, customer experience).
* Post across social media channels, respond to community engagement, monitor comments/messages.
* Analyse performance metrics weekly/monthly; adjust posting strategy; report to management.
* Coordinate with operations/kitchen/marketing for upcoming promotions, events, menu changes, to ensure social content is aligned.
* Explore and propose new content ideas - e.g. short-form video series, seasonal campaigns, user-generated content, collaborations.
* Manage social ad's.
Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience managing social media presence for a business, ideally in Food & Beverage, hospitality, hospitality venues or similar.
* Strong hands-on video and content creation skills (shooting, editing, post-production), with a good eye for what resonates on social and what drives engagement.
* Excellent copywriting skills, able to craft engaging, brand-consistent messages.
* Data-driven mindset: competence in using social analytics tools (native platform tools, third-party tools, spreadsheets, etc.), interpreting performance data, drawing insights, and adjusting strategy accordingly.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects/content streams simultaneously (e.g., events, menus, promos, regular posts).
* A good understanding of the F&B / hospitality sector it's pace, opportunities, constraints, and audience expectations.
* Flexibility and responsiveness able to create timely content around events, special offers, or trending topics, this may include occasional weekend working of a few hours to capture content.
* Creativity and initiative; able to propose new content ideas, campaign concepts, and experiments without heavy oversight.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working with multiple internal stakeholders (staff, kitchen, ops, marketing) to align content with business needs.
* Familiarity with basic graphic design/photo-editing software, video editing tools.
* Knowledge of social media advertising/boosting to manage ad's
