Job Overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Health & Safety Advisor within the Health & Safety Team. This role will be based on site in Kingsbury, Birmingham.


Role Responsibilities

* Support and deputise for the Sublot H&S Manager when needed.
* Support BBV and HS2 behavioural and cultural change programmes through alignment with the Golden Behaviours and Golden Rules.
* Work independently and efficiently on time‑critical / time‑sensitive workstreams.
* Provide advice and support on relevant health and safety related issues to colleagues on site.
* Advise on project compliance with the BBV health and safety management system and relevant UK legislation such as CDM and other construction‑related legislative requirements.
* Complete documented site inspections and joint inspections with suppliers, BBV and Subcontractor teams.
* Support project and construction colleagues in the effective delivery of safety briefings / health and safety communications.
* When needed, provide support for the development of site‑related health and safety communications.


Experience Required

* Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ or Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification). May consider candidates with a NEBOSH certificate currently working towards one of these qualifications with relevant on‑site experience or working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH.
* Strong understanding and experience of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework.
* Ability to influence and promote a positive H&S culture by engaging and conversing at all levels.
* Competence in incident investigation.
* Ability to prepare formal written reports on H&S topics.
* Broad experience of complex construction and civils projects.

About Balfour Beatty VINCI

Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long‑established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI’s role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI has been awarded a 90 km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.


Project Overview

Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

* 9.3 km of viaducts
* 2 twin‑bore tunnels and 2 cut‑and‑cover tunnels
* 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses
