If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.Job overviewA really interesting and exciting opportunity has risen for Band 6 Practitioners (Scrub Nurses) to join our friendly and dynamic theatre scrub team within Central Middlesex Hospital.The successful candidates will have an opportunity to work in the 11 Operating Theatres within the elective pathways which provides a wide range of specialties such as Urology, ENT, elective Orthopaedic, Colorectal, General Surgical procedures.If you are looking to further your career or, the opportunity to expand your skills in a variety of settings, then working with our amazing multidisciplinary theatre team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust is the obvious next step in your career ladder!Based on the trust values, we want you to be professional and be the best you can be able to provide safe and compassionate care to our patients.

We promise to support you in achieving your goals through our in-house training and tertiary study at our affiliated universities.The job will be based in Central Middlesex Hospital; however per times you will asked to work in other sites of the Trust (Northwick Park and/or Ealing). weekends and on-call is part of this position.The north west London acute provider collaborative is made of up of Team LNWH, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, Imperial Collage Healthcare NHS Trust, and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.Main duties of the jobWe’re looking for a permanent, highly skilled, specialist team of healthcare professionals to care for our patients in theatres.We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Registered Theatre Nurses (Team Leader) who have extensive post registration experience in an Colorectal, General Surgery, Urology Ophthalmology and ENT.You will be leading a team of Scrub Practitioners to facilitate the smooth running of the Colorectal, Urology, General surgery, Ophthalmic and elective orthopaedic ensuring the day-to-day operation reflects the highest standard of governance, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care. We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the publicDetailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe post holder will be responsible for organizing and delivering theatre care in the peri-operative setting.- To act as a scrub team leader, organising and overseeing smooth running lists- Be responsible for an identified group of staff, developing, training, monitoring, and documenting the development of their clinical skills- To establish, lead and maintain high standard of pre/peri and postoperative care- To contribute positively towards the delivery of a cost-effective service, adjusting staffing levels to meet demand and assisting the clinical co-ordinators to keep within agreed resourcesThe service will be working six days per week and to meet the needs of the Trust’s services, you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work.Required to participate in CMH on call rota To view the main responsibility, please see the attached the Job Description and Person SpecificationPerson specificationEucation and QualificationEssential criteria- Registered Nurse or registered ODP- Teaching and Supervision qualificationDesirable criteria- L6 or above academic level- Management trainingKnowledge and ExperienceEssential criteria- Extensive experience in theatre scrub and team lead in orthopaedic theatre- Evidence of continuous Professional Development- Teaching and assessment experienceDesirable criteria- Knowledge of current issues in operating theatre- Knowledge of people managementSkill and AbilityEssential criteria- Ability to organise day to day theatre activities- Abilty to Lead and delegate appropriately in Theatre- Excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skillDesirable criteria- Appraisal skill- Competent IT skillValue and AttributeEssential criteria- Demonstrate HEART value and compression in practice- Positively influence others in your daily activities and communicationDesirable criteria- Flexible approach to service development request- Critical analysis and reflect on own practice to seek improvementThe Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.We promote the wellbeing and safety of all our patients and carers by acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately, according to the standards determined by our policy and procedures.
