The Westminster School is a special school for 302 pupils aged 7–19 with a range of special educational needs. We pride ourselves on our child-centred approach, inclusive ethos and strong sense of community. Our school is a safe, happy, and inspiring place where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. This is a voluntary role where your experience and insight can help shape the future of our school and make a real impact on the lives of our pupils. Why Become a Governor? As a school governor, you’ll play a key role in: Setting the School’s Strategic Direction Help define our long-term vision and values, and contribute to decisions that drive improvement and growth. Supporting and Challenging Leadership Work alongside the headteacher to ensure high standards of education and effective staff performance. Overseeing Financial Decisions Ensure our resources are used wisely and efficiently to benefit every pupil. We’re particularly keen to hear from individuals with business acumen and commercial insight, even if your experience lies outside the education sector. Your skills will complement our existing board and help us continue to grow and improve. Governors attend around four full governing board meetings and three committee meetings per year. You’ll also spend time in school during the year, meeting staff and pupils and seeing the impact of your work first-hand. If you’re ready to grow your skills and be part of something truly rewarding, we’d love to hear from you. Full training and support are provided and no prior experience in education is required.
