Job Description:

A Fettler is responsible for the careful manual finishing of ceramic ware—removing seams, smoothing surfaces, and ensuring each piece is flawless before it moves on in production. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Manual Handling & Finishing
· Remove seam lines and imperfections from casted or pressure cast ware using a sharp blade or sponge.
· Sponge and wipe the base (known as the foot) of each item to ensure a clean, even finish.
Quality Control
· Inspect each piece for defects, cracks or inconsistencies.
· Ensure all ware meets visual and tactile quality before passing on
Tool Handling and Maintenance
· Use hand tools such as sponges, diddlers and knives with care and precision
· Clean and maintain fettling tools to ensure consistent performance.
Health Safety and Hygiene
· Follow all safety procedures including the use of PPE where required.
· Maintain a clean and tidy workstation to prevent contamination and accidents.
Production Support
· Work efficiently to meet daily production targets
· Communicate any issues with ware or tools to supervisors promptly
In Addition
· Express a keen attitude and willingness to learn.
· Work closely with the department team leader to continually improve techniques across the board to achieve the quality of product required by Emma Bridgewater.
· Communicate effectively with your line manager and trainer to ensure training process is being achieved and adjusted as required.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Pay: £12.24 per hour
Hours of Work: 39 hours per week - working 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM Mon-Thurs and 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM Friday.
