Offer description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Interim SENCO / Designated Safeguarding Lead to provide expert leadership for SEND and safeguarding within our Pupil Referral Unit. This is a key role during a period of transition, requiring a confident practitioner with substantial experience in PRUs, alternative provision or SEMH settings, and a deep understanding of the complex needs of our learners.


Responsibilities

* Oversee all aspects of SEND provision, ensuring that high‑quality support plans, assessments and interventions are in place and that staff are equipped to deliver inclusive, trauma‑informed practice.
* Work closely with teachers, behaviour teams, external agencies and families to secure positive outcomes and ensure statutory responsibilities, including EHCP processes, are met with precision.
* Take strategic and operational responsibility for safeguarding across the PRU, leading on referrals, managing multi‑agency work, ensuring robust recording and reporting, and developing a strong safeguarding culture.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, pupils and partners, establishing credibility and ensuring effective communication.
