Located in the stunningly idyllic Charlton Estate just outside of Alnwick, the Doxford Group sets the highest standards Northumberland has to offer. The Doxford Group is a family run organisation that has specialised in delivering extraordinary wedding and event experiences for over 10 years.

With the addition of the Tempus Hotel, Bar and Restaurant in May 2023 (recently voted in the Top 100 UK Hotels by The Times) we are looking for an experienced and driven Estates General Manager to take the business to the next level. The successful candidate will also oversee our two award-winning wedding venues (Charlton Hall and Doxford Barns) and the Tempus Hotel.

Ideal applicants will have experience of successfully leading a team within a full-service hotel, be an inspirational leader, possess the knowledge and confidence to approach running a business with the right balance of commercialism, efficiency, responsibility and team focus and demonstrate clear and stable career progression plus the resilience, personality and vision to drive a business forward.

Your responsibilities

As Estates General Manager you will manage and work closely with all Heads of Department, across all sites, to deliver outstanding guest experiences from first contact to final departure. You will confidently manage your team to deliver all aspects of guest care to the standard expected of a luxury hotel/wedding venue but still be 'hands on'. This role isn't for an individual who wants to sit behind a desk

Reporting into the Company Directors you will:

* Have overall control of all Heads of Department within all sites.
* Be actively involved in all events at Charlton Hall/Doxford Barns/Tempus.
* Enhance service levels and customer experience throughout all venues.
* Monitor and act upon customer feedback to enhance our product.
* Report weekly into the Company Directors to ensure the business is performing in line with budget expectations and provide tangible plans to redress if this isn't the case.
* Perform regular performance appraisals for all key staff and identify any training requirements.
* Ensure all sites are fully compliant at all times.
* Ensure all periodical reports are submitted on time.
* Play a lead role in recruitment and retention.
* Communicate effectively with maintenance and operations teams to resolve guest issues and accommodation defects.
* Deal with all customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
* Be on site at all key times (including weekends) but also create/maintain a strong sub management team that prevents the operation being exposed when you're out of the business.
* Be prepared to step in across all areas of the business as required and get your hands dirty
* Ensure excellent customer service that exceeds guest expectations.
* Work closely with the Group Sales Director to maximise all revenue channels.
* Work with the Finance team to ensure that all financial controls are honoured and the key financial metrics (Labour %, Gross Profit %) are in line, or exceed, internal budgets.

£60k per annum plus £10k bonus plus service charge (DOE)
