Exciting opportunity!
Join a first of its kind specialist children’s home that has just been rated as Outstanding by Ofsted for the second year running.
We are seeking to appoint suitably skilled, motivated, and caring recovery support workers on a casual basis to work with children and young people aged between 10 to 17 years.
Wakefield Local Authority and Wakefield CAMHS are collaborating to improve therapeutic care and outcomes for these children and young people. They are opening a bespoke Therapeutic Children and Young People’s home, hosted by Wakefield Local Authority and supported by Wakefield CAMHS.
Children and young people in care sometimes require additional support to manage complex trauma and mental health needs. This can lead to placements far from home in therapeutic settings, though there is limited governance and assurance for these placements.
High-value therapeutic placements are difficult to find, often resulting in multiple placement breakdowns before a suitable, risk-managed environment is found. This can lead to vulnerable young people being placed far from home and not achieving optimal outcomes.
The induction will include training and bringing together Local Authority and SWYT CAMHS staff.
These roles require enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals with good communication skills. You should be organized and confident in interactions with children, young people, and multidisciplinary staff.
You must hold an NVQ3 / Diploma in caring for children and young people or be willing to work towards this qualification within two years. Effective induction, supervision, and training will be provided.
The work involves shift patterns, including weekends, sleep-ins, waking nights, and Bank Holidays.
The homes provide a variety of opportunities to promote development within a caring, understanding, and supportive environment. You should be committed to improving the life chances of children and young people.
