Recovery support worker (casual)

Wakefield Council
Recovery support worker

Offer description

Exciting opportunity!

Join a first of its kind specialist children’s home that has just been rated as Outstanding by Ofsted for the second year running.

We are seeking to appoint suitably skilled, motivated, and caring recovery support workers on a casual basis to work with children and young people aged between 10 to 17 years.

Wakefield Local Authority and Wakefield CAMHS are working closely together to improve therapeutic care and outcomes for these children and young people. They are opening a bespoke Therapeutic Children and Young People service, hosted by Wakefield Local Authority and supported by Wakefield CAMHS.

Children and young people in care sometimes require additional support to manage complex trauma and mental health needs. This can lead to placements far from home, often in therapeutic settings, though there is limited governance over these placements.

High-value therapeutic placements are scarce, leading to multiple placement breakdowns before a suitable one is found. This results in vulnerable young people being placed far from home and not always achieving the best outcomes.

The induction will include training and collaboration between Local Authority and SWYT CAMHS staff.

These roles require enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals with good communication skills. You should be organized, confident in interactions with children, young people, and multidisciplinary staff.

You will hold an NVQ Level 3 / Diploma in caring for children and young people or be willing to achieve this qualification within two years of employment. Effective induction, supervision, and training will be provided.

The work involves shift patterns, including weekends, sleep-ins, waking nights, and Bank Holidays.

The homes provide a supportive environment promoting development and improving life chances for children and young people.

For further information, contact Rebecca Nicklin, (Homes Manager) on 07867373499.
