Description About the Role Located in our Machine Shop at NOV Tuboscope in Montrose and reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role is responsible for programming and operating CNC machine tools. The successful candidate will specialize in the machining of premium threaded products for the Energy and Oil & Gas industry. Prior experience and knowledge in this area are highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Manufacture components in line with standards and procedures defined by NOV and its customers. Report any defects in materials, components, or equipment to the Production Manager in accordance with company procedures. Liaise with the Production Manager regarding customer, project, or operational issues. Report any Environmental or Health & Safety concerns as they arise. Provide training and guidance to apprentices. Ensure all relevant drawings, procedures, and instructions are current before commencing work. Verify that all gauges and related procedures are accurate and up-to-date prior to use. Support Project Engineers in selecting tooling and capital equipment. Assist in the creation of risk assessments as required. Contribute to the proposal and implementation of new machining techniques or machines to enhance productivity or safety. Ensure full compliance with all HSE legislation and company HSE policies. Adhere to departmental and company policies, procedures, and processes at all times. Support cross-departmental tasks and undertake other duties as required by the Line Manager. Qualifications & Skills Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship. Hands-on experience operating CNC or manual machines. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. Experienced in machining premium threads. Skilled in CNC machine tool use and programming. Proficient in using inspection tools and specialized premium thread gauges. Thorough understanding of various manufacturing methods. Strong planning skills related to machining processes. Competent in the safe and effective use of lifting equipment. Solid understanding of Environmental and Health & Safety practices. Strong arithmetic skills. Competent in engineering terminologies, machine tools, and tooling. Interpersonal Skills Positive and proactive attitude. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
