Role Overview
We are seeking a service-driven Community Pharmacist to join our team. You will deliver a broad range of NHS and private pharmacy services, champion patient care, and drive business growth in the absence of the Store Manager. You should be both clinically confident and commercially astute, fully compliant with GPhC regulations, and eager to coach our support staff and apprentices.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispense prescription and over-the-counter medicines safely and accurately, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements
* Provide advice to patients on medication use, side effects, and disease prevention
* Deliver and expand NHS services, including Pharmacy First services, New Medicine Service (NMS), flu vaccinations, and other commissioned public health programmes
* Offer private clinical services such as Ear wax removal, travel health, private vaccinations and health checks where applicable
* Proactively identify opportunities for new service development and revenue streams
* Support the business in the Store Manager's absence by overseeing stock management, budgets, daily operations and staff training.
* Uphold GPhC standards in record-keeping, controlled drug handling, and patient confidentiality.
* Mentor, train, and assess pharmacy support staff and apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
* Collaborate with local healthcare providers and community organisations to enhance patient outcomes and increase service uptake
Person Specification Essential
* Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Proven track record in delivering multiple NHS and private pharmacy services, or strong willingness to undertake rapid training
* Excellent customer-service skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain patient trust
* Demonstrable clinical confidence when advising on complex medication matters
* Commercial awareness, with the ability to identify and act on business-growth opportunities
* Sound understanding of GPhC regulations, NHS contractual frameworks, and professional ethics
* Strong leadership qualities and experience in training or supervising junior staff
Desirable
* Additional service qualifications (e.g., Independent Prescribing, Diabetes Structured Education, Travel Health)
* Experience with digital pharmacy systems and service-promotion campaigns
* Previous involvement in local health initiatives or community outreach programmes
Qualifications & Training
* MPharm degree or equivalent pharmacy qualification
* Completion of Foundation Training Year (formerly pre-registration training)
* Current GPhC registration in good standing
* Commitment to completing any outstanding service certificates within 4–8 weeks of start date
