As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Laboratory and Compliance Manager to lead our quality systems, strengthen operational performance and manage our team of engineers.
This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role requiring both technical credibility and strong people management capability.
The Role
The Laboratory and Compliance Manager will be responsible for maintaining and developing our ISO/IEC 17025 quality management system, leading compliance activities and driving operational excellence across the laboratory.
You will play a critical role in ensuring technical robustness, regulatory compliance, and efficient project delivery while building a high‑performing, accountable engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Quality and Compliance (ISO/IEC 17025)
* Full responsibility for maintenance and continuous improvement of the ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management System.
* Management of measurement uncertainty budgets.
* Oversight of equipment calibration systems and traceability.
* Management of the laboratory training and competency framework.
* Planning and leading internal audits and supporting external accreditation audits.
* Ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Laboratory Operations and Planning
* Work planning and scheduling to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
* Improving project management processes within the laboratory.
* Implementing KPIs and performance metrics to drive accountability and efficiency.
* Identifying and delivering process improvements to increase capacity and reduce risk.
Leadership and Team Management
* Direct line management of a team of test engineers.
* Developing a high-performance culture with clear expectations and accountability.
* Coaching, mentoring, and supporting professional development.
* Driving engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Health and Safety
* Ensuring compliance with all laboratory health and safety requirements.
* Promoting a strong safety culture across the organisation.
About You
We are looking for an energetic and capable leader who combines technical expertise with strong people management skills.
You will have:
* Demonstrable experience managing an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory.
* Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty, calibration systems, and quality assurance processes.
* Experience leading internal audits and managing accreditation visits.
* Proven experience managing and developing technical teams.
* A structured, organised approach to work planning and operational management.
* The confidence to implement KPIs, performance management processes, and drive accountability.
* A proactive mindset with the energy to lead change and deliver improvement.
* A background in physical testing, engineering, or a related technical discipline is highly desirable.
