We’re recruiting in Gateshead for a Teaching Assistant who doesn’t do “standing on the sidelines.” You’ll move around the classroom supporting learning, help students sharpen their literacy skills, and be present throughout the day — including during breakfast club and structured lunch activities. If you’re up for a lunchtime ping pong match or a quick PlayStation game while building positive rapport - you’ll fit right in. Confidence and warmth are key. Yes, there are clear routines and strong behaviour systems. Yes, there’s a strong focus on literacy and GCSE success. But there’s also breakfast conversations, ping pong at lunch and supervised PlayStation time that helps build real relationships. You’ll: Engage with students from breakfast club onwards Be active in the classroom (no hiding at the back!) Help improve literacy and focus Build relationships over lunch — including ping pong and PlayStation Students leave at 2:15pm, followed by development time until 4:30pm - giving you space to grow into the role. From helping improve spelling in class to joining in with lunchtime ping pong tournaments, this role is about being present and involved.
