Knowledge:
The minimum education requirement is an HNC in Business Administration or Finance. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to research, analyze, and draw conclusions. Experience working directly with individuals with diverse abilities and the ability to elicit and explain information is essential.
Applicants should have a solid understanding of funding sources and the criteria used by social work divisions and funding organizations. A working knowledge of relevant legal and financial frameworks is required, including:
* DWP allowances and benefits, including completion of financial forms and income maximization (Verification Training required)
* The Community Care (Direct Payments)(Scotland) Act
* The Independent Living Fund and interagency funding levels
* The National Assistance Act for financial assessments and asset disposal
* The Community Care & Health (Scotland) Act for personal/nursing care and charging issues
Jobholders must stay informed about legislative and statutory changes related to these areas.
In addition, the role requires knowledge of various organizational activities beyond procedural knowledge of their own role, including admin, finance, funding, and service provision. Good IT skills are essential, particularly in creating spreadsheets and reports. An understanding of client needs and the context of Community Care is also important.
The administrative and reporting responsibilities necessitate familiarity with office procedures, especially within Social Work.
