Job Description:
EQUANS is looking for a Spatial Planning Policy Manager to join our team in Grimsby. This is a permanent role working full-time hours. The salary ranges from £45,000 to £51,000, depending on skills and experience, with a benefits package included.
What will you deliver?
Equans, North East Lincolnshire Council's long-term regeneration partner, delivers various services including planning. This role supports the planning service to ensure it provides excellent service and contributes to sustainable development and growth in North East Lincolnshire.
The post holder will lead, plan, and manage the Spatial Planning team, which handles the development of plans, evidence base documents, and planning policies. The team is currently reviewing the Local Plan for North East Lincolnshire Council.
The responsibilities include:
* Preparing and contributing to statutory and non-statutory planning policy documents, including formulation, consultation, and engagement activities.
* Liaising with council officers for the Local Plan delivery.
* Preparing evidence for public examinations, inquiries, and appeals.
* Supporting regeneration and economic projects, liaising with private sector developers.
* Managing workload to deadlines, supporting team members.
* Responding to consultations from government and local authorities.
* Working across environmental and socio-economic disciplines, analyzing evidence and data.
* Collaborating on evidence documents like Monitoring Reports and housing land supply statements.
* Performing other duties as reasonably expected.

Who are we looking for?
* A degree or diploma in town and country planning; RTPI membership preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Numerate with analytical skills.
* Knowledge of research techniques and data analysis across environmental and socio-economic disciplines.
* Extensive ICT skills, including GIS software experience.
* Experience preparing evidence for development plan examinations and appearing as a witness.
* Deep knowledge of planning legislation, development processes, and statistics.
* Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills and alignment with EQUANS values.
