About the Position Shift: 40 hours per week, Hours: 4 days on / 4 days off, Monday to Friday 08:45 - 21:00, Saturday 10:00 – 21:00, Sunday 09:45 – 21:00 Salary: £25,834 Location: Rotherham Contract: Full Time, Permanent The day to day Perform microbiological testing on food samples, including weighing, diluting, and preparing samples using aseptic techniques. Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic workstation in line with departmental cleaning schedules. Prepare and supplement media, conduct volume checks, and operate laboratory equipment such as media preparators and pourer stackers. Ensure all samples are handled safely and accurately. Dispose of waste and clean utensils promptly to maintain a safe working environment. Collaborate with colleagues to meet testing deadlines and departmental targets. The Essentials Educated to A level (or equivalent) in a science-related subject – or with relevant laboratory experience. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety standards. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well within a team and respond positively to feedback. Reliable and punctual, with a flexible approach to working hours and changing priorities. Able to manage workload effectively and meet required deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude toward learning and improvement.
