National Lead for History (Fixed Term)
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 pro rata + TPS pension + additional benefits.
Location: Based from home with frequent funded travel to our network of schools and EdCity.
Hours: 0.2 – 0.4 FTE, with flexibility to meet the demands of the role.
Start: September 2026 (fixed term, 1 year, with possibility of transition to a permanent role).
About the role
As a leading member of our central curriculum team and wider education team, you will play a key part in shaping our education vision, mission, ambition, and strategy. Your responsibilities include overseeing and driving the strategic approach to history, offering expert advice, guidance, and support. You will lead improvements in curriculum, standards, and teaching across all secondary schools in the trust, thereby enhancing history outcomes nationwide.
This role blends strategic development with practical hands‑on support. Working closely with school leaders, teachers, and central colleagues, you will focus on improving history curriculum quality, teaching practice, and pupil outcomes at scale and within specific schools. You will collaborate with regional education directors, heads of department, and school leaders, and lead professional networks that build expertise and capacity across the trust.
About you
You are an experienced and credible secondary history leader with a strong track record of improving history outcomes and teaching. You hold significant expertise in effective history education, are strategic, network‑mindful, and passionate about ensuring excellence as the standard. You will bring vision, expertise, and collaboration to make a meaningful difference to thousands of children nationwide.
