We are excited to recruit an enthusiastic Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist 0.5 WTE as Team Lead of NHS Forth Valley’s Eating Disorder team. The team offers Forth Valley-wide assessment and treatment to adults with a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa or Binge Eating Disorder. The team works closely with CAMHS colleagues which is crucial in providing an ageless service and managing transitions. The main aim is to treat and support people as outpatients and treatment can be on an individual basis or as part of a group. The team has access to beds in the specialist Regional Eating Disorder Unit (REDU) at St John’s Hospital, Livingston. The team is multidisciplinary comprising consultant clinical/counselling psychologist (this post), nurse therapists, dietitians and psychiatrists. Evidence-based treatment is tailored to the individual needs of the patient and joint packages of care are often developed between the different disciplines. It is expected that the postholder will provide leadership to the team and they will develop this in collaboration with the Clinical Director (Consultant Psychiatrist) and the Service Manager. In addition the postholder will operationally manage the two parttime nurse therapists and carry a clinical caseload. The postholder will be part of the Psychological Services Management Group (PSMG) alongside the heads of other specialties within the service. They will be responsible for managing waiting times within Eating Disorders and contributing to overarching Psychological Services initiatives. It is desirable for the postholder to work across three days however requests for other work patterns will be considered. Key meetings within both Eating Disorders and Psychological Services occur on Tuesdays. Candidates must have experience of working with eating disorders, and a good understanding of issues currently relevant to both NHS eating disorders services and NHS psychological therapies services. They should have proven management and leadership skills. The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
