Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is hiring a Quality Engineer to join our team.
About the Role
As a Quality Engineer, you’ll play a key part in ensuring adherence to AS9100 standards, UK CAA regulations, and customer requirements. Acting independently with guidance from the Operations Quality Manager and Site Head of Quality, you’ll provide technical support, drive continuous improvement, and champion a culture of quality throughout the organisation.
* Support the Operations Quality Manager with the implementation and maintenance of the site QMS, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory standards.
* Carry out Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including RCCA investigations, dispositions, and ERP transactions to reduce MRB value.
* Lead and support investigations into internal and customer‑driven non‑conformances, ensuring effective corrective actions.
* Drive product and process improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction.
* Support the delivery of continual improvement activities such as 5S, Kaizen, and lean methodologies.
* Ensure NCRs are resolved using structured problem‑solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Cause & Effect).
* Conduct internal quality and compliance audits to AS9100 standards, as well as product audits.
* Provide measurement and verification support across the business.
* Assist with quality ticketing system requests and support system integration and training activities.
About You
* Strong knowledge of AS9100 standards and experience with non‑conformance management.
* Proven ability to conduct RCCA investigations using methods such as 8D and 5 Whys.
* Experience with auditing (internal audit certification required).
* Competence in using measurement equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, shadowgraph, OGP).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report writing.
Desirable Skills Include
* Knowledge of UK CAA regulations (Part‑21G & Part‑145).
* Experience with AS9102 (First Article Inspection Reporting).
* Familiarity with aerospace supplier quality standards (Airbus, Boeing, Rolls‑Royce, Safran, etc.).
* Continuous improvement techniques (Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt).
* Lead Auditor training.
