Discipline Manager - Electrical Engineering

Overview
The applicant should have wide ranging and extensive experience with an emphasis on excellence in team leadership. You will be responsible for managing the electrical engineering team, recruitment and ensuring projects are supported with resources, managing personnel and supporting projects. The position is based at KBR’s Leatherhead Campus.
Key Functions
* Responsible for all aspects of engineering activities undertaken in Electrical engineering on proposals, projects and developments.
* Coordinates with other Discipline Department Managers to integrate technology activities with those of other technologies to meet company goals.
* Monitors and adjusts levels of personnel, levels of skills, and development of skills in the technology.
* Implements project quality control procedures in technical safety area.
Relationships
* Reports to the Manager of Engineering for Electrical engineering group support.
* Coordinates directly with Project Engineering Managers on staffing requirements and conducts technical audits.
Responsibilities
* Managing a team of electrical engineers and designers, and contributing to related activities.
* Ensure that adequate personnel are available to support projects and corporate requirements, including forward planning for staff resources.
* Assist staff with setting goals and objectives and support career development through mentoring and coaching.
* Responsible for all aspects of engineering activities within electrical engineering on proposals and projects.
* Participate in the resolution of requests for correction or preventive action on projects.
* Lead corporate electrical development initiatives and assign resources to produce measurable outcomes.
* Ensure the continued development and application of KBR technology, execution methods and procedures for projects.
* Help build strong relationships with other KBR operating centres to support ONE KBR project execution.
Skills / Experience
* Background should show progression in roles from within the electrical group into a leadership position.
* Developing presentations and experience communicating with clients, personnel and professional institutions.
* Experience communicating across a multi-discipline team and across different offices.
* Experience delivering on conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED and/or EPC projects.
* Good communication skills to encourage and empower others.
* Understanding of electrical safety requirements, international standards and design implications.
* Ability to drive quality within the electrical team and ensure high standards are met.
* Subject matter expert skills in one area of electrical engineering.
* Experience managing a large team and personnel management experience.
* Experience training/mentoring younger engineers.
* Chartered Engineer from a UK professional institution (or equivalent).
Qualifications
* BSc / BEng degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* Experience with a major EPC contractor or operator
